First I would like to say thank you to all of you who participated in Spirit Week to celebrate the launching of our website and our very first issue! It was difficult to execute due to the hybrid nature of our schedule, but I hope you all had fun despite the setback.
Now, here's a look at spirit week

Our spirit week schedule went as follows:
Retro: On this throwback day we asked you to dress in an outfit that reminds you of the past whether that means dressing in your parents' old clothes or making a retro outfit yourself. The opportunities were endless! While pictures from this day were limited, here are a few of my favorite outfits from the day:
Beginning REALLY retro, Cassandra Colmenares comes in as a pirate to give us a real taste of the sweet ole' 1600s.
Jumping forward in our timeline by over three centuries, Briana Ballard takes us to the 1990s. This outfit is brought to you by Briana's mother who kindly let her closet be raided for spirit week.
Finally we have Megan Wiarda who takes us back to our childhoods in her own Sesame Street t-shirt (c. 2008). If you had the chance to ask Megan what her favorite part of the shirt is, she would excitedly tell you it was the back because it shows all the characters' butts as they wave to you on the front of the shirt.
Pajama: As one of the virtual spirit days, the Axolotl Insider wanted to promote acceptance of wearing your pajamas while in online class.
Once before we may have tried to hide that we were in our pajamas, however this day was a day to be proud of our comfy outfits. Here William Ding gets cozy in his panda onesie while he attends classes online!
Academy Colors: On this day we showed the most school spirit by wearing our Academy High gear or an outfit full of our logo colors! I personally chose to sport a comfortable school branded hoodie while others took the chance to wear their sports jerseys for the first time this year.
Halloween: Our week concluded with the spookiest day of them all, Halloween-ish! Although Halloween was not on a school day this year, we still wanted an excuse to dress up.
This year we had an emerging Scooby Doo theme as Colette, Cassandra, and Briana dressed as everybody's favorite Eco-goth band, The Hex Girls, while William was their has-been rival, Fantzee Pantz. Caden and Miles also threw a bit of the Mystery Gang into the mix as Shaggy and Daphne respectively. Hopefully next year we can see a Scooby or Velma!
Academy High also takes extra precautions during this pandemic, seen with Yoon's costume. Here you can they are sporting a fashionable plague mask, proving that no matter the occasion you should still stay safe and wear a mask (although I don't think everyone could pull it off as brilliantly as Yoon!).
As we wrap up this Spirit Week, October, Halloween season, and everything else, I would like to give a special thank you to Mr. Carpenter and the AHPA for bringing Dragon Fire Pizza to campus, it made our week that much better!
